Holbrook Canyon is my favorite trails in the Bountiful area so far (the list is short). I enjoy the beauty of the water as well as the handcrafted bridges throughout. My initial thought of this trail was that it was moderate at best. There were many families on the trail and the main trail was well defined, until the far end of the trail. The morning after I was feeling the elevation in my calves so moderate it is! The disappointment factor would be the “waterfall.” We never did find a so-called waterfall. Perhaps we didn’t go far enough. Towards the end of the trail it was extremely overgrown. We battled the brush until we lost hope for the waterfall.
Although packing water for this trail is definitely doable, I had to try out my new gadget. I purchased a LifeStraw Go with 2-Stage Filtration, from Amazon, which was awesome. Drinking water from a stream is not something I would normally be excited about trying, nor was anyone else on this hike, but this was a very cool experience. Believe it or not, the water tasted like…. Water! This creek was perfect for a first timer as the water appeared very clean straight from the source. You can find my full review of the LifeStraw here.
